Weather forecast: Daytime temperatures to rise by 2–5°C

On Wednesday the lowest temperatures will be between minus 3°C and 2°, in Sofia around minus 2°C. Before noon the cloud cover will be significant, and over Northwest Bulgaria and the Upper Thracian Plain there will be low-lying stratus clouds or fog. In the east it will be mostly sunny, and in the afternoon in the southern half of the country the cloud cover will break up to mostly sunny weather. There will be a light southerly wind. The maximum temperatures will range between 4°C and 9°, lower in Northwest Bulgaria where it will remain cloudy and foggy throughout the day. In the capital city it will be around 7°C.

Along the Black Sea coast the skies will be party cloudy, becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. There will be light to moderate southerly and southeasterly wind. Daytime highs will be around 7°C –9°C. The seawater temperature is 6°C-7°C. Sea state will be around 1–2 on the Beaufort scale.

In the mountains it will be mostly cloudy. In the morning there will be light snow showers in places in the Western Balkan Mountains and the massifs of Southwest Bulgaria. There will be almost no precipitation in the east. It will be foggy at the peaks. In the afternoon the clouds will break up and decrease, and the weather will be mostly sunny over the massifs of Central and Eastern Bulgaria. There will be a moderate westerly and southwesterly wind. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 m will be around 4°, at 2000 meters – minus 2°.

On Thursday, after a temporary break in the cloudiness, the skies will quickly become cloudy again. Rain will start from the south and by evening will spread across Southern Bulgaria. Before noon it will be foggy in some plains. There will be a light to moderate southerly and southeasterly wind and it will continue to warm up. The lowest temperatures will be between 0°C and 5°, and the maximum between 8°C and 13°.
