The United Kingdom has extended the term of the general license for the subsidiaries of Russian company Lukoil in Bulgaria. This was announced by the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, which is part of the HM Treasury, quoted by the press center of the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy. The general license includes the companies Lukoil Bulgaria, Lukoil Neftochim Burgas, Lukoil Aviation Bulgaria and Lukoil Bulgaria Bunker.
The license entered into force on November 14, 2025 and after
a series of talks between the Minister of Energy and foreign
partners, the term was extended until August 13, 2026. Initially, the
license was valid until February 14, 2026.
The
Bulgarian government is expected to be able to negotiate an extension
of the license with the US authorities. The license expires on
February 28.
