President Iliana Iotova has vetoed amendments to the Election Code that would cap at 20 per country the number of polling stations that can be opened outside the European Union, the presidency said. This limit would not apply to polling stations located at Bulgarian diplomatic and consular missions.

Iotova stated that all Bulgarian citizens have equal rights and obligations under the Constitution, regardless of where they reside, and that the state is obliged to ensure equality in the exercise of voting rights.
