The book “26 - A Short Anthology of Contemporary Bulgarian Authors in the United Kingdom” has been published, the newspaper of Bulgarians in England, BG BEN, reported. The edition has been compiled by literary critic Georgi Nikolov and includes works by 26 Bulgarian writers. It was published by “Multiprint” - Sofia, with financial support from the Ministry of Culture.
The premiere will take place on March 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute at the Bulgarian embassy in London. All the writers, as well as their relatives, friends, and admirers, have been invited.
The edition is a thematic continuation of previously published books: “The Bulgarian Word on the Literary Globe” (under the aegis of the National Literary Museum, directed by Atanas Kapralov), “55+ Bulgarian Authors in the USA and Canada,” and “An Encyclopedic Reference Guide to Bulgarian Literature Created in the European, American, and Australian Diaspora in the 19th-21st Centuries.”

It is difficult to say how many poets, fiction writers, and essayists of Bulgarian origin are scattered around the world by the will of fate. Yet the literature they create is moving, impressive, and memorable, BG BEN notes.
“This literature should be known and studied in our schools as an inseparable part of the cultural silhouette of the homeland. Unfortunately, their books - some of them already written in other languages - are somehow only fleetingly present in the spiritual pulse of Bulgaria. For a long time, there has been a lack of a center dedicated to the study of the Bulgarian book around the world… But the Bulgarian word lives and will continue to live through the upheavals of time, as it has so far. The birth of this short anthology with the curious title ‘26…’ is proof of that,” its compiler Georgi Nikolov told BG BEN.
