Bulgarian alpine skiing star Albert Popov has begun training in Bormio ahead of the men’s slalom at the Milan–Cortina Olympic Games, scheduled for Monday (16 February). He shared several photos on Facebook from his intense training sessions on the slopes of the Italian resort, Sportal.bg reported.
Initially, Popov and his team were considering participation in the upcoming giant slalom on 14 February. However, it was later decided that he would be preserved for a medal push in his strongest discipline, the slalom, on Monday.
So far in his career, Albert Popov has competed in two Olympic Games — PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022. His best result is ninth place in the slalom in China four years ago.
