Against the backdrop of the Archaeological Complex “Valley of the Thracian Kings” near Kazanlak, scholars from across Bulgaria are coming together for the tenth edition of the seminar “Thracians, Wine and Culture.
The two-day forum, held on 13 and 14 February, coincides with several significant dates: the professional holiday of Bulgarian archaeologists; the Day of Vinegrowers and Winemakers (Trifon Zarezan); and the Assumption of St Cyril, all of which are observed on 14 February.
The programme opens with the photo exhibition “Megalithic Messages from Antiquity,” presenting striking images of some of Bulgaria’s most impressive rock sanctuaries. The official opening will take place on 14 February, with the seminar being held in a hybrid format, both on-site and via live online streaming.
Participants will present research dedicated to Thracian culture and spirituality, the historical and symbolic dimensions of wine, and the digitalization and accessibility of Bulgaria’s cultural and historical heritage.
