Mild winter weather to continue, rain expected Sunday

Mild conditions for the time of year will continue across Bulgaria this weekend, with rain forecast to spread nationwide on Sunday.

On Saturday, minimum temperatures will range from 0°C to 5°C, around 1°C in Sofia. It will be a largely sunny day, with increasing cloud from the west and rain reaching western areas later in the afternoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the south-southwest. Maximum temperatures will be between 11°C and 16°C; in the capital, it will be around 11°C.

Along the Black Sea coast, it will be mostly sunny, with a moderate southeasterly wind. Maximum temperatures will range from 10°C to 15°C. Sea water temperatures will be between 5°C and 7°C, with slight to moderate waves.

In the mountains, cloud will increase from the west, bringing rain to the Rila-Rhodope massif and the western Balkan range later in the day, with snow falling above 2,000 metres. Winds will be moderate to strong from the south-southwest. Temperatures will reach around 9°C at 1,200 metres and 2°C at 2,000 metres.

On Sunday, rain will spread across the country, with heavier rainfall possible in parts of southern and eastern Bulgaria. Southerly winds will strengthen before turning north-westerly later in the day and bringing colder air. Temperatures will remain relatively mild, with lows above freezing and highs between 12°C and 17°C.
