A record number of tourists from Romania visited Bulgaria in 2025. According to current data from the National Statistical Institute, they recorded nearly 1 million tourist registrations in accommodation establishments during 2025, which is an increase of 8.5 percent compared to 2024 - the highest level of tourist registrations from this market recorded so far, the Ministry of Tourism announced.
The increase in registrations of Romanian tourists in accommodation establishments in 2025 compared to the pre-pandemic year 2019 stands at 51.2 percent, again according to current data from the National Statistical Institute.
Outgoing Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh emphasized that the record results from the Romanian market are a clear sign of growing trust in Bulgaria: “More and more Romanian tourists are choosing Bulgaria because here they find diversity, quality, and a genuine experience. For us, this is recognition, but also responsibility - to continue developing tourism in such a way that every guest leaves inspired and eager to return.”
Against this backdrop, the Ministry of Tourism is presenting Bulgaria at the international tourism exhibition TTR 2026 in Bucharest (February 12–15) - one of the leading tourism events in the region, bringing together tour operators, agencies, hoteliers, and institutions from a number of European countries. As part of the exhibition, Bulgaria is participating with 31 representatives of the tourism sector – companies, hotels, and municipalities – showcasing a wide range of offers and destinations for the Romanian market.
