Bulgaria is interested in a Greek system for protection against drones. The funding is from the European Defence Mechanism, BNR correspondent in Greece, Katya Peeva, has reported. The “Centauros" system can act as a ground-based anti-drone system, but also for protection against drones on warships. The system has a radar with a range of 40 km and a weapon for direct destruction of attacking drones.
Two of the Greek frigates are already equipped with "Centauros" and the qualities of the system have been proven in the EU patrol mission in the Red Sea. It protected merchant ships from attacks by Yemeni Houthi rebels. In addition to Bulgaria other European countries are also interested in purchasing the Greek anti-drone system, Greek sources report.
