The latest song composed by Stefan Dimitrov, carries a bright and powerful message directly in its title – “We Are Still Bulgarians”. We feel it in the rhythm as well, set in the uneven 9/8 meter typical of Bulgarian folklore.

“We Are Still Bulgarians” begins with a quote from a song beloved by Stefan Dimitrov – “Kaval Sviri Na Polyana/A Kaval Plays in the Meadow”, after which we hear his original music. The entire project was initiated by Blagovest Argirov. Commenting on the creation of “We Are Still Bulgarians”, the composer shares:
“This song went through many transformations – it originally had different lyrics, which were also good, but they didn’t fully express the intended idea. Now Margarita Petkova has written a text that is very impactful in the current situation in Bulgaria. Because something like this truly needs to be done – we need to unite and help ourselves. The lyrics are exceptionally beautiful and precise”, says Stefan Dimitrov.
The colorful lineup of performers who recorded “We Are Still Bulgarians” is a symbol of unity – joining the Argirov Brothers are football legend Hristo Stoichkov, the folklore orchestra “Kanarite”, and singers Toni Dimitrova and Doni. Together, they call on us:
“Let’s pull ourselves together. Let’s become one heart. For you, Bulgaria!”
