Rain expected across the country, snow in the North and the mountains

On Tuesday, the lowest temperatures will range between 0°C and 5°C, in Sofia around 2°C. A Mediterranean cyclone will bring widespread precipitation, heavy in places. Most areas will see rain, though in northwestern Bulgaria and the higher plains of Western Bulgaria, the precipitation will fall as snow. Winds will be moderate from the east-northeast, while Southern Bulgaria will see east-southeasterly winds. By evening, the wind will shift from the northwest and strengthen, bringing in colder air. Maximum temperatures will range from 2°C –3°C in the northwestern regions to 10°C –12°C elsewhere. In the capital city, daytime highs will reach 5°C.
Along the Black Sea coast, it will be cloudy with rainfall. In the northern portion of the coastline, rain will mix with snow. Maximum temperatures will range from 6°C in the north to 9°C in the south. The seawater temperature is between 5°C and 7°C. Sea state 2–3 on the Beaufort scale.
In the mountains, it will be cloudy with snowfall. Rain is expected in Strandzha and Sakar. Precipitation will be significant in some areas. Strong southerly winds will blow, shifting to north-northwesterly and strengthening by evening. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 meters will be around 2°C, at 2,000 meters around –2°C.
On Wednesday, precipitation will stop. Over the western half of the country, cloud cover will break up and decrease in many areas to mostly sunny weather. It will remain windy.
