Welcome to “Bulgaria Today” – your window to news, stories and music from Bulgaria.

Today, February 16, is a truly special date. We celebrate the 90th anniversary of Radio Bulgaria – the multilingual voice of our country that, for nine decades, has connected Bulgaria with the world and the world with Bulgaria.

Since its very beginning, Radio Bulgaria has carried a clear mission: to speak about Bulgaria beyond its borders, to keep compatriots abroad connected to their roots, and to present Bulgarian culture, history and contemporary life to a global audience. Through political changes, technological transformations and evolving media environments, one thing has remained constant – the belief that public service media must build bridges. Bridges of language. Bridges of trust. Bridges between people.

For 90 years, Radio Bulgaria has upheld a tradition of professionalism, credibility and cultural dialogue. From the era of shortwave transmissions crossing continents to today’s digital platforms and podcasts reaching listeners on demand, its voice has adapted to the times – but its purpose has never changed: to inform, to inspire and to unite.

In today’s special anniversary edition of “Bulgaria Today”:

·         We look back at the history of Radio Bulgaria, tracing its development from the first foreign-language broadcasts to its modern multilingual presence online.

·         We bring you an interview with the Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio, who shares his vision for the future of Radio Bulgaria and the role of public media in today’s Europe.

·         We also speak with the Editor-in-Chief of Radio Bulgaria, about the dedication, challenges and inspiration behind creating content for audiences around the globe.

·         And at the end of the program, we’ll celebrate the occasion with a selection of Bulgarian music.

Stay with us as we mark 90 years of Radio Bulgaria – 90 years of voice, mission and tradition. This is “Bulgaria Today.”
