Bugarians honor the memory of the Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski

The 153rd anniversary of the death of the Apostle of Freedom, Vasil Levski (1837–1873), will be observed with military rituals, liturgies, and commemorative ceremonies throughout the country.

In the capital Sofia, at 5:00 p.m. today, a memorial service will be held at the ancient church Saint Sofia Church by His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil, in memory of Hierodeacon Ignatius – Vasil Levski. A liturgical procession will depart from the church and proceed to the Vasil Levski Monument on Vasil Levski Boulevard, retracing the Apostle’s final steps on his path to immortality.

At 6:00 p.m., a commemorative ceremony will take place in front of the monument to the Apostle of Freedom, with the participation of servicemen from the National Guard Unit and the Guards Representative Brass Band, the Ministry of Defense announced.
