Türkiye is joining gas and oil exploration in Bulgaria’seconomic zone in the Black Sea. The national company Türkiye Petrolleri (TPAO) signed a new partnership in Istanbul with Shell, joining the license for the “Khan Tervel” block. The news was announced by Turkish Minister of Energy Alparslan Bayraktar, reported BTA.

The partnership grants Türkiye a five-year license to conduct exploration in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone. Bayraktar noted that the “Khan Tervel” block spans 3,800 square kilometers and is located near the large Turkish gas field Sakarya in the Black Sea.
