The forum in Tirana is fully aligned with the shared strategic objective of strengthening connectivity, regional cooperation, and collective security, outgoing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Pavlov said at the Ministerial Forum in Albania’s capital dedicated to Corridor No. 8.
Nikolay Pavlov added that in the current geopolitical environment, Corridor No. 8 is of fundamental importance for security and defense, and reaffirmed Bulgaria’s commitment to building all components of the Corridor regardless of the difficulties.
On the territory of Bulgaria, the route of Corridor No. 8 from Italy to the Black Sea links to Transport Corridors 4, 9, and 10. Of the 1,220 km of railway track along the route, 747 km are on Bulgarian territory. Of the 1,350 km of the road route, 631 km pass through the country.
The next meeting on the construction of Corridor No. 8 will be held at the Bulgaria–North Macedonia border in the second half of 2026.
