One
of the issues that I will deal with during my meeting with Mr. Georg
Georgiev (former Foreign Minister) is to see what exactly has been
signed, because I am not sure that all commitments are public, said
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Nadezhda Neynsky in response to a
question about the Board
of Peace
and Bulgaria’s future participation in Donald Trump’s initiative.
Nadezhda
Neynsky added that the
country made a political signal by signing the charter, but she
and her colleagues from the European Union have many reservations and
question marks regarding its legal status as it was important to
understand whether the document has the character of an international
treaty.
“At
this stage, the idea of ratification is being held back,
because without knowing the legal basis of what was signed, no
further steps can be taken,” the Foreign Minister added. According
to her, the issues related to the financial dimensions must also be
seen, as well as the fact that it is managed solely by one person.
