President to deliver address at ceremony in Sofia honouring Vasil Levski

A commemorative ceremony will be held in Sofia this evening to pay tribute to the Apostle of Freedom, Vasil Levski, marking the 153rd anniversary of his death.
At the monument to the national hero, who gave his life for Bulgaria’s liberation from Ottoman rule, President Iliana Yotova will deliver an address, the presidential press office announced. National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan and members of parliament will also attend the ceremony and lay wreaths and flowers.
The National Guard Unit and the Guards Representative Brass Band will take part in the event.
Earlier in the day, at the “Saint Sophia” Church, Patriarch Daniil served a memorial service in honour of Hierodeacon Ignatius – Vasil Levski, followed by a procession to the site of the commemorative ceremony.
