Deputy Prime Minister for Fair Elections, Stoil Tzitzelkov, has resigned. Tzitzelkov announced this at a briefing in the Council of Ministers. He stated that he has no “charges, convictions and current restrictions at the moment”. According to him, closed administrative issues from more than a decade ago are being brought up with an obvious political purpose.

“Fair elections are the main priority of the caretaker cabinet. Protecting the vote is my number one cause... It seems that at this moment my personality does not bring any positives to the government,” Tzitzelkov said. Earlier, MP Toshko Yordanov from “There is Such a People” showed in parliament Tzitzelkov’s 2014 conviction for drunk driving and two police records for marijuana use.
