The Trakia folk ensemble is giving a master class to 32 Bulgarians aged between 15 and 25 who live in different European countries, BTA reported. The young dancers will visit Plovdiv, where they will learn the authentic steps of one of the Trakia Folk Ensemble's most emblematic dances. "Grozdana" was choreographed by Prof. Kiril Dzhenev and has brought fame to Bulgaria on international stages. The participants will work alongside professional dancers and choreographers from the ensemble.
The Trakia Folk Ensemble team and Lyutvie Gencheva, head of the 'Horo' dance group in Freiburg, Germany, came up with the idea for the event.
"The initiative was prompted by the fact that various groups abroad show great interest in Bulgarian folklore. While talking with the choreographers leading these groups, we came up with the idea of staging a classical dance piece to be performed by the dancers at the annual 'Na megdana na drugata Bulgaria' (On the Village Square of the Other Bulgaria) festival, which will be held in Munich, Germany this year," Assoc. Prof. Dimo Enev, chief ballet master of the Trakia Folk Ensemble, told BTA.
According to Enev, interest in the initiative was extremely high, with more than 90 children and young people submitting video audition tapes. The selection was made by the ensemble’s Chief Artistic Director and choreographer, Prof. Dr. Daniela Dzheneva, and Ballet Master Prof. Dr. Anton Andonov.
