The directors of Bulgaria's National Library of "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" and the National Library of Brazil have signed a memorandum of cooperation in Sofia, committing the two institutions to joint projects, traveling exhibitions, and the exchange of professional expertise.

The host of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kalina Ivanova, welcomed her colleague Marco Lucchesi with remarks about the shared mission of the two institutions, BTA reported. Both expressed gratitude to the Brazilian ambassador to Sofia, Paulo Roberto Campos Tarrisse da Fontoura, whose team has been actively strengthening relations between the two countries for a second consecutive year.

The signing ceremony was followed by the presentation of Lucchesi’s bilingual poetry collection Slovosazdania (“Word Creations”) - his first book published in Bulgarian. The translator, Prof. Rumen Stoyanov, noted that the book “has an impact even before it is read - through the unusual spatial organization of expression, signs, and punctuation.”

The event was attended by the ambassador of Portugal, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and academic community.
