Minister of Energy participates in Transatlantic Energy Security Summit

Caretaker Minister of Energy Traycho Traykov participates in the Transatlantic Energy Security Summit in Washington on February 24, the Ministry of Energy announced. The forum will discuss a joint statement on enhancing the security of natural gas supplies for Central and Eastern Europe. It is expected to be signed by the energy ministers of Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Moldova, Ukraine, Croatia, Lithuania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.

The countries declare their intention to diversify sources for Europe, reduce dependence on Russian gas and strengthen the partnership between Europe and the United States. With the signing, Bulgaria will consolidate its role as a key transit country along the Vertical Gas Corridor.
