The expected import of 240 thousand tons of sunflower from Argentina within days is a "blow" to Bulgarian production and raises questions about a possible cartel agreement between processors. Grain producers say that this is a matter of targeted dumping. This was what the chairman of the National Association of Grain Producers Iliya Prodanov told the Bulgarian National Radio. Grain producers insist on a comprehensive analysis of the raw material according to all European standards for residual pesticides, heavy metals, etc.

"Secondly, we insist on a sectoral analysis of the sunflower market in Bulgaria and whether there is a cartel between the processors in the sunflower market," Prodanov says. According to him, so far there has been no import or isolated cases of import of sunflower to Europe from Argentina. The amount of sunflower currently transported to Bulgaria is 1/5 of the country's production for the year.
