Bulgaria
has a real opportunity to become a leading regional gas distribution
and transit hub, the Ministry of Energy announced after the
participation of Minister Traycho Traykov in the Transatlantic Summit
on Security of Gas Supplies, which was held in Washington on February
24-25.
According
to Traykov, Bulgaria can play a key role in transporting liquefied
natural gas from the US to Ukraine and the countries of Central and
Eastern Europe. This will diversify supplies and open up
opportunities for additional investments in the national gas
transmission network from Greece to Romania.
At
the forum, the energy ministers of 12 European countries and the US
signed a joint statement. Regular state consultations, coordination
between gas operators and regulators, and joint actions to create a
transparent gas market are planned.
