The country's external debt has increased by over 7 billion euros for a year

Bulgaria's public debt as of December 31, 2025 amounted to 31.428 billion euros. The amount includes domestic and external debt. This was what caretaker Minister of Finance Georgi Klisurski said in the parliamentary control to a question from MPs of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms. The amount of external public debt is 25,374,000 euros as of December 31, 2025. The increase compared to a year earlier is 7.249 billion, as it was 18.124 billion euros. By the end of 2025, external debt was 22% of GDP, while by the end of 2024 it was 17.3 percent of GDP. There is an increase of 4.6% for one calendar year, statistics show.
