Millions of losses for Kozloduy NPP because of unsuccessful technical solutions

Tens of millions of euros are the losses for Kozloduy NPP. The reason for this is unsuccessful technical solutions during the repairs of the power plant units. This was announced by caretaker Minister of Energy Traycho Traykov.

The problems of Bulgaria’s only nuclear power plant arose after replacing a protective membrane device in a steam superheater separator of the turbine of Unit 6 with a Bulgarian-made membrane, which is not an original part. This led to a series of "repairs of repairs" and shutdowns of the unit.

"Yes, it is true that the supply of parts must comply with the sanctions regime against Russia," said Traykov. According to him, however, it was possible to take steps so that this problem could be overcome and original parts could be used. "The one who allowed this to happen will take responsibility," Traykov added.
