Warm weather with sunny spells is expected across much of Bulgaria on Tuesday, the country’s National Day, 3 March.
Minimum temperatures will range between 0°C and 5°C, with around 2°C forecast for Sofia in the morning. Cloud cover will be considerable before midday, mainly medium and high-level clouds, but is expected to break up in the afternoon, giving way to mostly sunny conditions. Winds will be light from the north. Later in the day, the eastern parts of the country will see a temporary north-north-easterly wind bringing slightly cooler air.
Daytime highs will reach between 10°C and 13°C in the Ludogorie region, and between 15°C and 18°C in southwestern Bulgaria. Temperatures in the capital are expected to reach around 13°C.
Along the Black Sea coast, skies will be partly cloudy with medium and high cloud, becoming mostly sunny by the end of the day. There will be a light to moderate north-north-easterly wind, with maximum temperatures between 7°C and 9°C. Sea water temperatures will range from 4°C to 7°C, with sea conditions slight to moderate, around force 2-3.
In the mountains, cloud cover will be significant before noon but will gradually decrease in the afternoon, leading to mostly sunny weather. Winds will blow from the north-north-west. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 7 °C at an altitude of 1,200 metres and around 1 °C at an altitude of 2,000 metres.
Wednesday is forecast to be largely sunny, with light southerly winds. High cloud is expected to increase from the south-west towards the end of the day. Temperatures will remain relatively mild, ranging from lows of 0°C to highs of 17°C.
