Iran must be persuaded to return to the negotiating table and abandon its nuclear programme, as well as ballistic missile development and support for Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, said caretaker Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynski during an EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on 1 March.

The statement was released on Monday by the press office of Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry.

Ms Neynski also expressed her support for a joint meeting between EU foreign ministers and the Gulf Cooperation Council. She stressed that Sofia's top priority remains the safety of Bulgarian citizens in the region and ongoing efforts to evacuate them.
