A ceremony marking Bulgaria’s National Day, March 3, was held on Monday in front of the Hunters’ Monument in Ploiești. The monument was erected in honor of the thousands of Romanian volunteers from the region who joined the Russian troops and the Bulgarian volunteers in 1877, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Romania reported. The event began with the national anthems of the two neighboring countries and a joint church service.

The Bulgarian delegation also visited the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where they were welcomed with the Bulgarian national anthem performed by musicians from the Ploiești Philharmonic.

“Today’s ceremony is symbolic, as it highlights the longstanding bonds between Bulgarians and Romanians. They are rooted in the past. It is natural that our nations have stood together through the centuries. Today we are rediscovering one another, getting to know each other better, and looking toward the future together,” Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov said.
