Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant has been shut down for the replacement of protective membrane components in the turbine, located in the conventional, non-nuclear part of the unit, the NPP said on its official website. The shutdown took place on March 3.

The new components to be installed are made from materials identical to the original ones. Tests conducted in independent laboratories have confirmed that the materials meet the required quality standards. Unit 5 of the Kozloduy’s NPP is operating on schedule with a load of 1,048 megawatts.

On February 19, during a hearing in Parliament, Kozloduy NPP Chief Executive Director Ivan Andreev said that due to the war in Ukraine, Bulgaria cannot obtain original spare parts from the Russian company Atomexportstroy.
