“Today our call is to restore the value of diplomacy, of human rights around the world, and of peace,” said President Iliana Iotova at the traditional reception on the occasion of Bulgaria's national holiday, March 3, at the Central Military Club in Sofia. “We have chosen our national holiday on a day when we speak of peace and reconciliation,” the head of state added.
“In this distressing and dangerous time in which we live, each of us once again weighs the meaning of the word freedom for ourselves. The most important thing is to be free within ourselves. Then our hearts and souls will be open to the virtues and values that make us human. Our parents ensured that we grew up to be worthy people. They gave us the immense privilege and happiness of living in a world of peace. Today, this is our responsibility to our children and grandchildren. We must bequeath peace, tranquility, and the opportunities to grow and develop - each according to their own talent,” Iotova added in her speech.
