Bulgaria is in close proximity to two armed conflicts. The strikes against Iran create a real risk to Bulgarian security, said former president Rumen Radev. In a Facebook post, he emphasized that particular concern is caused by the passive behavior of the caretaker government, “which downplays the risks and is not taking the necessary urgent measures.”

Radev calls for an inspection of the state reserve’s available supplies of oil, gas, and liquid fuels. Due to an expected migrant wave, he urged the seeking of European coordination for the protection of national borders. The politician expects the caretaker government to raise its level of readiness to counter terrorism and is calling for measures to intercept drones and ballistic missiles.

At the same time, he also expects action to curb speculation following the introduction of the euro in the country, which, according to him, is increasing.
