Bulgaria strongly condemns the continuing unprovoked and indiscriminate attacks carried out by Iran against its neighbours in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, and calls for their immediate cessation. This is stated in an official position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria published on the institution’s website.
“We express our solidarity with the affected states, which are demonstrating restraint at this extremely critical moment. We extend our gratitude for the efforts of the authorities of our regional partners to ensure the safety of Bulgarian citizens in the respective countries, as well as for the assistance provided in the evacuation process.
Urgent action is needed to de-escalate tensions, to ensure lasting stability, to guarantee energy and economic security, as well as the freedom of navigation,” the statement from the Foreign Ministry reads.
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry further noted that this position had been expressed by Bulgaria during the meeting held on 5 March 2026 between the foreign ministers of the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council. It was also conveyed during a series of telephone conversations between Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky and her counterparts from the region.
