During a nuclear energy summit in Paris, caretaker Minister of Energy Traycho Traykov met with his Turkish counterpart Alparslan Bayraktar and invited him to come to Sofia. Traykov said that he sees understanding and readiness for changes in the terms of the contract between the state-owned gas companies Bulgargaz and Botaş.
Negotiations are ahead because these are very specific
parameters, but at the same time Türkiye has its own interests and
we also have other joint projects that we are currently discussing,
Traykov said.
By
the time of Bayraktar's visit to Sofia, Bulgaria will have prepared a
detailed position on opportunities to update the contract. The
agreement signed in 2023 between the two companies for a period of 13
years is costly for Bulgargaz, without Bulgaria actually receiving
gas from Turkish terminals.
