The preparations for machine voting in the upcoming early parliamentary elections on April 19 are proceeding on schedule, and no problems with the devices are expected, Central Election Commission Spokesperson Rositsa Mateva said an interview with bTV. She emphasized that although the warranty period of the voting machines has expired, this does not threaten their functionality.

“All machines used in the elections were acquired before 2021, but that does not mean they cannot operate. The state takes responsibility for maintenance and repairs at its own expense if any device breaks down”, Rositsa Mateva added.

“There is absolutely no evidence that voting machines can be manipulated”, caretaker Minister of e-Government Georgi Sharkov said in the National Assembly.

Voting machines will be used in 9,354 polling stations across the country. The number of polling stations where machine voting will be available is determined based on the preliminary voter lists, which include more than 299 registered voters.

Applications for voting abroad can be submitted until March 24. So far, more than 13,000 people have expressed their desire to participate in the elections.
