Diplomacy must be given a chance to resolve the military conflict in the Middle East, said Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Dai Qingli in an interview with Radio Bulgaria. According to her, the use of force may seem like a quick solution, but it always creates more problems.

China is worried not only by the horrific human cost, but also by the economic consequences of the situation related to Iran. “We are already seeing a sharp rise in oil prices, but even more importantly, we are observing increasingly serious consequences for the international order built after World War II,” the ambassador pointed out. She added that we are witnessing how might becomes right, and the world is gradually returning to the so-called Law of the Jungle.

A Chinese special envoy for the Middle East will soon visit the region to begin a new round of diplomatic consultations, Dai Qingli announced. Foreign Minister Wang Yi has already spoken to eight of his counterparts from the region and Europe.

According to the diplomat, it is difficult to answer the question of whether the crisis in the Middle East can be resolved by Donald Trump’s visit to China at the end of March. “At this stage, it is very difficult to make predictions, obviously a lot depends on the decisions of the United States,” Dai Qingli said.
