Kardzhali Region reports decline in foreign direct investment for 2024

Foreign direct investment in non-financial sector enterprises in the Kardzhali region decreased by 29.7% in 2024 compared to 2023, reports BTA. Of the total foreign investment in Bulgaria, 0.9% was in the Kardzhali region, while within the South-Central region it accounted for 8.4%. Nearly 93% of the total investment in the region in 2024 went to a few sectors – mining, manufacturing and other industry; water supply; sewerage services; waste management and remediation. A total of EUR 297.6 million was invested across all seven municipalities in the region, with the largest share going to the Kardzhali Municipality-EUR 200.6 million.
