Bulgarian National Bank receives “Economy in the Light” award

The Bulgarian National Bank has received the award in the category “Individual or Organization Contributing to the Limitation and Prevention of the Informal Economy through an Active Position” at the national Economy in the Light competition, organized by the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association.

The distinction recognizes the bank’s effective management of the process of introducing the euro in Bulgaria. According to the nomination’s justification, participation in the Eurozone strengthens financial transparency, introduces stricter regulatory standards, and deepens integration into the European financial infrastructure, thereby limiting the shadow economy.

The competition has been held since 2013 and honors institutions, organizations, individuals, and media outlets for their contribution to combating undeclared employment and the shadow economy.

The ceremony was opened by the Vice President of Bulgaria, Iliana Iotova.
