Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov has told the Bulgarian National Radio that people with incomes up to twice the poverty line (about 781 euros) will receive 20 euros in aid due to the increase in fuel prices. The money will be deposited into their accounts by the end of March without the need to submit applications or receive vouchers. The measure will continue as long as prices remain high due to the conflict in the Middle East.
The money for the
aid is between 20 and 30 million euros and will be provided through
the budget. The increase in prices in Bulgaria is the lowest in
Europe, compared also to neighbouring countries. The difference is
between 20 and 50 cents for different types of fuel, Gyurov also
said. According to him, there is currently a price increase in the
range of between 15 percent and 25 percent of the levels in the weeks
before the conflict in the Middle East.
