About 20,800 applications for voting outside the country were submitted by March 15, Kamelia Neykova, chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), told BNT. For the elections in October 2024, all applications submitted were just over 30,000. In the UK, applications are currently over 4,000, which is twice as many in comparison to October 2024. There are also more applications submitted in the US.

Usually, the largest number of applications for voting are submitted in Türkiye. “More than one polling station will be opened in embassies where possible. We will do everything possible for voters to exercise their right to vote,” Neykova added. “There will most likely be no polling stations in the Middle East. There are few applications submitted in these countries. When the final decision of the CEC is made, these voters will be notified, which will probably be around March 28,” Neykova also said.
