Sonya Yoncheva attends the Oscars and announces Gala in Sofia

Among the guests at the 98th Academy Awards ceremony on 15 March was Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva. She attended in her capacity as a global artist and ambassador for a world-renowned watch brand, which is a principal partner of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She was accompanied by her husband, the renowned conductor Domingo Hindoyan, who was recently appointed Music Director of the Los Angeles Opera.

For the occasion, Yoncheva wore an Oscar de la Renta gown, paired with shoes by the Bulgarian label INGILIZ — a brand also chosen by Angelina Jolie for the Cannes Film Festival.

In an interview with Nova TV, Yoncheva invited music lovers to attend her 2026 Gala in Sofia, which will take place on 25 and 27 August in St Alexander Nevsky Square. She described an ambitious event featuring red carpets, photo installations, and internationally renowned guests. Joining her on stage will be Jonas Kaufmann in Tosca and the cellist HAUSER in Blue Night.
