Sports legend Stefka Kostadinova tops the DPS–New Beginning list in Plovdiv

Track and field legend Stefka Kostadinova has announced that she is leaving the Bulgarian Olympic Committee to stand in next month’s parliamentary elections for the DPS–New Beginning party. She will lead the party’s list in Plovdiv. “I hope to live up to the hopes and trust placed in me,” she said.

In March 2025, Kostadinova challenged the election of Vesela Lecheva as president of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC), seeking to return to the position.
