Against the backdrop of the situation in the Middle East, we must not lose our focus on Ukraine, said acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Nadezhda Neynsky at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, the Foreign Ministry reported.

“The EU and the world are in a very delicate situation; there are multiple conflicts. There are many different developments affecting the security of the EU,” Neynsky commented. According to her, it is unlikely that a solution will be found by Thursday - when the European Council is set to meet - regarding the release of a loan for Ukraine and the expansion of European sanctions against Russia.

Neynsky also announced that she plans to travel to Kyiv on March 31 and hold bilateral meetings with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and her counterpart Andrii Sybiha.

“Bulgaria condemns the indiscriminate and unprovoked Iranian attacks against countries in the Persian Gulf. Any actions that obstruct the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, including its mining, are unacceptable,” the caretaker  foreign minister added.

She stated that Europe is united on the issue of fuel prices and that common solutions are being sought. At this stage, Bulgaria does not face problems with fuel supply; the issue lies with prices, the minister concluded.
