A total of 30 nominations have been received for the "Bulgarian Woman of the Year – St. Zlata of Meglen" award for 2025, according to the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad. The nominations were submitted by Bulgarian organizations and communities from 11 countries: Germany, Austria, Canada, the United States, England, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Finland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. The nomination period ended on 6 March 2026.

The agency thanked all organisations, communities and compatriots who submitted nominations. 'Thanks to them, the inspiring stories of Bulgarian women are brought to light every year — women who, through their work, contribute to the development of Bulgarian communities around the world and to the preservation of Bulgarian culture, language, and traditions,' the institution emphasised.

The 'Bulgarian Woman of the Year – St. Zlata of Meglen' competition honours Bulgarian women living abroad who make a significant contribution to Bulgarian communities through their social, cultural, educational, or charitable activities. The award is named after St. Zlata of Meglen, a symbol of the spiritual strength, dignity, and resilience of Bulgarian women.
