Over
2,000 mekitsi (fried dough) will be distributed in Momchilgrad on the occasion of
the Muslim community's celebration of Arife Day on March 19. The
traditional initiative will be held in the city center and will be
accompanied by a festive concert. The event will take place before
noon and the delicious mekitsi will be prepared by local chefs and
distributed to residents and guests of the city.
The initiative has
established itself over the years as a symbol of sharing and respect
for traditions on the eve of Ramazan Bayramı, Momchilovgrad
municipality reports.
Ramazan
Bayramı begins on March 20 and will last three days. Traditionally,
the holiday begins after the morning prayer in the mosques. Believers
greet each other, with the younger ones kissing the hands of the
older ones and asking for forgiveness. Among the most important
customs remains the distribution of alms.
