President
Iliana Iotova said she expects a more comprehensive compensation
package for Bulgarian citizens due to high prices. "This is only
the first step, I expect a more comprehensive package if the war
continues," the president told reporters after earlier today the caretaker
government approved a 20 euro monthly aid for people
with incomes twice below the poverty line at fuel prices above 1.60
euro per liter, BTA reported.
According
to Iotova, a comprehensive package should be developed not only for fuel, but also for rising prices in general, as
well as measures to combat speculation. "Nobody wants the war to
continue but we must be ready for all options," the head of
state added.
