A unified approach by the EU in coordination with our transatlantic partners, is the key to protecting the security of European citizens and stability in the region. This was what caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov said at a meeting with the President of the European Council António Costa. Gyurov is in Brussels for the European Council meeting. The two discussed increasing security, sanctions against Russia and support for Ukraine, as well as the Multiannual Financial Framework.

Gyurov called for Europe's focus to remain on Russian aggression against Ukraine and on a unified approach regarding the 20th package of sanctions against Russia and the entry into force of the support loan for Ukraine. It was pointed out that the escalation in the Middle East and high energy prices will harm the effectiveness of the sanctions.
