The Working Group on Bribery in International Business Transactions at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has given Bulgaria the green light on its path to joining the organisation, the justice ministry said.
At its latest plenary session in Paris, where Bulgaria was represented by Deputy Justice Minister Andrey Georgiev, the working group concluded that the country had satisfactorily implemented all key recommendations related to the accession process in the field of anti-corruption. The group also gave high marks to legislative reforms undertaken in Bulgaria in this area.
Further work remains on two recommendations – the possibility of using special investigative techniques in standalone proceedings and reconsidering the legal ban on initiating criminal proceedings based on anonymous reports.
