There is no risk that the Giro d’Italia in Bulgaria will be canceled, said caretaker Minister of Sports Dimitar Iliev at a briefing at the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.
In May, Bulgaria will host the first three stages of the world-famous Giro d’Italia - one of the largest sporting events in the world, with a TV audience of over 700 million viewers from nearly 200 countries, BTA recalls. The participants will cover more than 600 km through Bulgaria.
Iliev assured that the organization of the cycling race is proceeding normally. According to the minister, there is one section that urgently needs to be repaired, as it has been milled and cyclists cannot pass through it. Overall, however, coordination with municipalities and other ministries involved in the organization is good, so everything is going according to plan, the sports minister said.
