Bulgaria and Romania took part in the meeting of Agriculture Ministers from the Visegrád Group, Bulgaria, and Romania in Budapest, dedicated to the future of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2027.

Caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Hristanov emphasized that maintaining a strong and well-funded CAP is crucial for Bulgaria, as it guarantees food security and stable incomes for farmers. He also highlighted the need for external convergence of subsidies, as countries with smaller economies find it difficult to compensate the differences with national funds.

During the meeting, the countries signed a joint declaration to preserve CAP funding and support agroecological measures in the EU. The document will be presented at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council on March 30 in Brussels.
