The Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil held a telephone conversation with the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos III, the press office of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church reported.
During the conversation, the head of the Bulgarian Patriarchate expressed concern over troubling news, the ongoing military actions in the Middle East, and reports about restricted access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
The Patriarch of Jerusalem informed Patriarch Daniil about the current situation, emphasizing the assurances he has received that services during Holy Week and the Paschal period will not be interrupted, and that representatives of the Local Churches will have access to the church for the Holy Fire, as has been the case every year so far.
The Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil expressed unwavering support for the holy and ancient Jerusalem Patriarchate - the “Mother of the Churches” - and for its long-suffering flock, which is going through great trials. He assured his counterpart that the Orthodox Bulgarian people pray daily for the holy Zion Church and for all those suffering from military conflicts.
The conversation concluded with wishes for peace in the region and around the world, and for a blessed celebration of the Feast of Feasts - the Resurrection of the Savior Jesus Christ, the statement from the Bulgarian Patriarchate said.
